  • RETRIAL OF DEFENDANTS OVER “EXPLOSIVES CELL” CASE

    • Cairo Criminal Court, Police Academy, Number of defendants: 3
    • Charges: Leading a group affiliated with the MB group at Helwan, forming a terrorist cell that produce explosives, attempted murder, establishing and leading an outlawed group, possessing arms and ammunition.
    • The court decided to adjourn the case to 13 August 2017

  • DOKKI INCIDENTS

    • Giza Criminal Court, Police Cadets Institute, Retrial of one defendant
    • Charges: Establishing an unlawful group, organizing a gathering of more than five people, threatening with violence, a show of force, murder, attempted murder, which led to the death of Hamada Fathalla and the injury of Tamer Abdel-Ghafar, Mahmoud Kamel, Hussein Sayed Hassan, possessing firearms and fireworks Molotov cocktails to use them for the purpose of disturbing public security, and attacking police forces and public and private facilities.

    The court decided to adjourn the case to 7 September 2017, for the defense pleading

  • SHOOTING “BELBES” AIR BASE

    • The Military Court, Easr Cairo, Number of defendants: 170
    • Case No. 247 of 2016, known in media as “shooting “Belbes” air base”

    Charges: Joining a group that is established against the law and the constitution that aims at disrupting state institutions and preventing them from performing their duties, being trained by members of “Ansar Beit Al-Maqdes” terrorist organization in Sinai, targeting the security forces, illegally acquiring one of the country’s defense secret information by shooting- using a camera cell phone- Belbes air base as prelude of its targeting. Defendants planted an explosive device next to “Qasr al-Quba”.

  • COLLABORATING WITH HAMAS CASE

    • Cairo Criminal Court, at the Police Academy, Number of defendants: 22
    • Charges: Spying with foreign bodies and handing national state secrets to internal and external organizations with the aim of carrying out terrorist operations in the country.   
    • On 16 June 2015, Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Khairat al-Shater, Mohamed al-Beltagi and Ahmed Abdel-Aaaty to death, and sent Mohamed Morsi and Mohamed Badie along with 16 MB leaders to prison, while carried Mohamed Refaa al-Tathtawi and Asaad Shiha a 7-year prison sentence.
    • The court of cassation rescinded the ruling issued in the spying case and decided to re-carry out the procedures of the trial.

  • BREAKING INTO MATAY POLICE STATION

    • Minya Criminal Court, Number of defendants: Retrial of 396

    Charges: Breaking into and setting fire to Matay police station in North Minya, and killing the deputy police commissioner “Mostafa al-Akkad” in the aftermath of the dispersal of Rabaa and al-Nahda sit-ins.

    From the 11 July 2017 hearing, for adjudication with the referral of 12 defendants’ papers to the Mufti.

    The court sentenced 12 defendants to death, 140 others to life in prison, 2 minors to rigorous imprisonment, while acquitted 238 others. The criminal lawsuit against 4 defendants were also dropped due to their death.

    Charges| Establishing an outlawed group, targeting Coptic Christians and tourists, monitoring petrol pipelines and ship routes in Suez canal to attack them, manufacturing circuit boards and using them in acts of violence in the country

    Court decided to set the case for adjudication at the hearing of 14 October 2017

  • RETRIAL OF 3 DEFENDANTS FOR STORMING AL-TEBEN POLICE STATION

    Cairo Criminal Court, convened at the Police Academy, Number of defendants: 2

    • Charges:Joining an outlawed group and storming al-Teben police station in the aftermath of Rabaa and Al-Nahda Sit-in dispersal
    • The court sentenced the two defendants to 10 years in rigorous imprisonment, fined them a 10 million LE, and put them under surveillance for 5 years after serving their prison term

  • ANSAR BEIT AL-MAQDES CASE

    Cairo Criminal Court, convened at the Police Academy, in Case No. 423/2013 state security, number of defendants: 213

    • Charges: Committing 54 crimes, including assassination of police officers and attempting to assassinate the former minister of interior Major General Mohammed Ibrahim.

    • Charges: Establishing and leading two unlawful groups with the purpose of disrupting the law and constitution, preventing state institutions and public authorities from performing their duties, attacking freedoms and public rights guraranteed by law, harming the social peace and national unity, and using terrorism means to achieve the aforementioned purposes.,

    Charges: Joining an outlawed group, raiding and burning a communication center at Dermowas in the aftermath of Rabaa and Al-Nahda sit-ins dispersal

  • THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE INCIDENTS

    • Sohag Criminal Court, Number of defendants: 79, 7 of them are imprisoned over the case known in media as the “Administrative Office” incidents case
    • Charges: Joining a terrorist organization with the aim of disrupting the public peace and harming state institutions, disrupting the provisions of the constitution, preventing state institutions from performing their duties, inciting against protests and the disruption of transportation and promoting leaflets

    Case was adjourned from the hearing of 2 July 2017

    The court sentenced 72 defendants to 5 years in prison, and carried three others a 3-year prison setence, while declared four defendants innocent from the charges attributed too them.
