Kuwait: Activist “Hamed Buyabes” Imprisoned 10 days for Insulting Saudi Arabia on the Social Networking Website “Twitter”

maxresdefaultThe Arabic Network for Human Rights Information – ANHRI condemns the Public Prosecution’s decision  yesterday November 17, 2014 to imprison twitter user “Hamed Buyabes” 10 days on charges of insulting Saudi Arabia.

Kuwait’s Public Prosecution has decided yesterday November 17, 2014, to imprison twitter user “Hamed Buyabes” 10 days pending investigation on charges of insulting Saudi Arabia in a tweet on the social networking website “Twitter”.

“The imprisonment of twitter user “Hamed Buyabes” is a flagrant violation of the freedom of expression, and a continuation of a series of arrests carried out by the Kuwaiti authorities against the activists for  expressing their opinion on the social networking websites.” Says ANHRI.

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information – ANHRI calls upon the Kuwaiti authorities to immediately release twitter user “Hamed Buyabes” and to drop all the charges against him. And also to stop the prosecution of activists against the backdrop of what they write on the social networking websites.
