HRinfo welcomes Al-Ahram's decision to end its ban on blogs
Cairo, 13 August 2006 The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (HRinfo) welcomed today Al-Ahram Institution's decision to end its block on blogs and websites which was implemented a few days ago and filtered all blogs of the google search engine, which administers nearly 80% of Egyptian blogs. On 8 August 2006, HRinfo has called upon Al-Ahram to end its block on some websites, especially blogs of www.blogger.com and the blog www.manalaa.net, considering such an action as a violation of freedom of expression and the right to exchange information. Following the positive response of Al-Ahram Institution, we await the Egyptian government to take the same path and end its block on three websites: Al-Shaab newspaper: http://www.alshaab.com Save Egypt Front: www.saveegyptfront.org Al-Amal (labour) party: www.el3amal.net |
