People's Assembly calls for Hatred
Muslim Brothers PA Representatives and The Government Must Stop Instigating People against Bahaists

Cairo, 4 May 2006

Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (HRinfo) called on the parliamentary Muslim brothers to stop hatred generation and instigations against Egyptian citizens of Bahaism religion which led a member to allow killing them.

Peoples' Assembly session of yesterday witnessed exciting argumentations and debates on the award sentenced by Administrative Judicial Court in Alexandria on 4 April which gave the Bahaist Egyptian citizens the right to issue Personal Identity cards for their daughters showing that they are Bahaists. In this session, Muslim brothers called on the government to eliminate this award and criminalizing Bahaists. Upon Muslim Brothers website "Ikhwanonline" the Muslim brothers PA representative Aqel allowed murdering them!!

"The common approval between both Muslim brothers and Egyptian government, despite all the disputes they are suffering is hatred instigations against other Egyptian citizens, for no reason but being them of another religion. This brings shame to all" HRinfo. Executive Director; Gamal Eid said.

HRinfo. found that Muslim brothers PA representatives gave themselves the right to irreligion other Egyptian citizens of other religious sects. This threatens not only Egyptian Bahaists but also all other citizens belonging to other religions but Islam in Egypt, as well as secularists.

Nevertheless, the permanent situation of Arabic Network for Human Rights Information in respect with the freedom of belief urges it to declare that religion is so private to the extent that no person has the right to decide the religion of another person. Religions, whatever they are, may not be eliminated or stated by another religion, governmental decree, group or person.

"Muslim brothers announce themselves as suffering prosecution by Egyptian government. This is true. However, it is deniable enough to see them trying to practice the same prosecution against other citizens for no reasonable justification but being them of a different religion" Eid said "Suppressing Bahaists or any other sect is merely a new disaster added to the Egyptian Society to limit people's opportunities to have their citizenship rights and political and civil rights headed by the freedom of belief. Muslim brothers PA representatives must be more tolerant in order not to maximize Egyptian society problems" Eid added.
